A fun night

The "quads" came over last night with their parents, minus one who was home with a stomach bug. Connor (blue shirt), Andrew (red shirt), Hayley and Lauren are some of the sweetest kids we know, and their parents as well. The kids went crazy on the slip-and-slide and dug through toys in the backroom that haven't seen the light for months. Andrew chased lizards and waited patiently for the moonlight gecko/frog display on our windows. We ate our favorite tomato corn pie and nectarine buckle for dessert; our first dinner guests other than family in LA! We need to do it more often. Good excuse to clean the house. The kids fascinate me. Andrew was firstborn and seems to be the ringleader. Future biologist, he loves to be outside in his grandma's garden and finding animals and bugs. Nina calls him "the boy with the smile." Connor is more quiet, but fiesty, and a future engineer like his dad - he can put together star wars lego sets all by himself. Hayley, "the purple gul," who didn't join us, is their drama queen, a beautiful little brunette with blue eyes, she's a talker and is super sweet with Nina. And Lauren, the "pink gul" and the littlest (she weighs the same as Nina), free with her hugs and loves to dance and twirl around. I cannot imagine having four 5-year-olds. For awhile I thought they were "easy kids" but I've been around them long enough to know now that they're no "easier" than mine. Their parents are soft-spoken and gentle and dedicated. Elizabeth's mom, Betsy, is a hoot, we love spending time with her too. So...friends. Nice to have some. Weird to think we could know them here for a long time, we're not going anywhere.
