lazy day

Sunday Nate left the house to exercise and Kai and I left the house to make groceries. That's it. It rained, we worked to entertain the kids. Nina cooperated by napping, and we ended the day with Return of the Jedi.

not so cool

Kai and I ran errands in the rain today while a ***still!*** sick Nina napped in Kai's bed, and then with Nate on the couch. Kai and I picked out for her a lavender shirt and striped leggings from the Gap. For Kai, cargo pants and navy socks with yellow electric guitars.
We came home and showed Nina her loot. Not impressed with the purple. But to Kai's socks she said, "Those are cool!" And all she wanted to wear were the socks.
She's also demanding a yoda lightsaber.
And when we were in a spa the other day buying some treats (for our best new, very young, very dear friend who was very recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer), she was running around mumbling things like, "Butt! Poop! Pee pee! Lightthaber! I fight you with my lightthaber!", all the while the merchant was talking about how cute and sweet and beautiful her hair is. Hilarious.
So tonight the crib rail is off and Nina has her own big girl bed, a full 2 YEARS before Kai did. Lord help us.

who needs an occasion...

...to color eggs?
Just trying to find activities these two can do together. It is not easy.

Our first family outing to The Hive

Go Hornets! Kai loved it and studied the game. Nina was a little napless muppet, climbing all over the seats, freaked out by the flames and fireworks at the beginning of the game but - oh fear of fears - today she's talking about the "dancers". (The Hornets Honeybees could easily be mistaken as strippers or porn stars. Oh. Lawd. I wanted to cover their eyes.)

another standalone

this one stands alone

Kai loves the water as much as he did when he was a baby.

Florida with cousins

We had such a great time in Naples, nearly perfect weather every day led to lots of pool and beach time. Nina is enamored with Spencer and Cole. Kai is still mimicking Cole and, thanks to Cole, Nintendo DSI is already on Kai's 6th birthday wishlist. I would hire Spencer to be my "mother's helper" in a second.
