Julian & Nina
Julian loves his swing from Grandpa Fud.
He was pretty sick over the weekend with adenovirus - cough, runny nose, fever 104.9, diarrhea and vomit. None of the kids have ever had a fever that high, it was scary. He's also getting a big fat tooth and it's making him swollen in the cheek and uncomfortable. Despite all this, he rallied with ibuprofen and tylenol and we had a gorgeous weekend in the yard.
Julian is a busy boy
Loves his sand & water table from nana and dup. He loves emptying cupboards. He loves pulling lacemats off of the kitchen table so that anything on them spills onto the floor. He loves getting ahold of moldy satsumas in the yard.

Nina's turn
Nina had to share her special half-birthday with Mardi Gras. The parade rolled right in front of our house. Before it started she and Nate spent a lot of time riding the bike up and down the street without training wheels. She doesn't have the hang of it quite yet but she's a brave girl and she keeps trying. It was a drizzly day. Kai wasn't in the mood for the parade and went inside with a book, Julian slept through it, but Nina just loved it. For nina's bday treat we baked a cake and nina decorated it with sprinkles and frostin'.
half-birthday!
Photos from Kai's 7.5 birthday. Nina, Julian, dad and I snuck away in the afternoon while Nate and Kai played in the yard. We walked downtown, bought cupcakes and a few goodies from the art store. Came back and did a treasure hunt for his gifts, followed by cheeseburgers on the grill. I wonder how many treasure hunts we've done?! Back when Kai was 3 there was a period of time when I would have a treasure hunt ready for him when he got home from June and David's. It was almost never anything new, but something old that he hadn't played with for awhile. He was reading then...crazy! Now we do occasional treasure hunts, the kids still love them. Now Nina is starting to sound out words so I'm back to writing instead of drawing clues...thank goodness. And why the half-birthday celebration? I think we started it because Jess and Kendall did it with the kids...and it was an excuse to celebrate in the midst of winter. The kids love it of course.
